Candle Notes and News

Even in this dubious economy, everyone loves candles during the holidays for giving or for personal enjoyment. When it comes to candles, there is no better value than PERFECT candles. My happy customers agree: they last longer than any candle we've ever burned, they burn cleanly with almost no soot, and unlike the other products out there, you can actually smell these throughout your house!

So email me and let me know which products interest you. And for your convenience, I accept VISA, Discovery and MasterCard.

Sure, there are good smells and bad smells, but did you know that scents can also be happy or sad? The part of our brain that stores emotional memories is intricately linked with smell, researchers have found. As a result, aromas that remind us of past experiences can flood us with the same long-ago feelings.

Our new products have arrived, they are fantastic! New Bakery Pies, a new Limited Edition holiday candle, a new car freshener fragrance, and our hand wash now includes a foaming pump! We also have a new fragrance that comes only in melts here. Best of all, our compensation package has new enhancements that makes this the PERFECT time to become a distributor!

Multiple uses for our unique and wonderful foot lotion:

1. For men to use on their face after shaving. Apply a small amount and begin to work into the skin of the face. Once it becomes slightly tacky, stop rubbing and let it continue to soak in. Minutes later the face is smooth and silky.
2. Some women enjoy using it as a nighttime moisturizer on their face, and it's completely safe to do so.
3. For ladies to use after shaving.
4. Some people claim it takes the itch out of mosquito bites. I don't know this for sure, but I will try it out.
5. Takes the sting out of paper cuts.
6. Some use it after they have a sunburn. It takes the sting out of the burn and helps minimize the peeling if you use it right away BUT you have to continually apply a liberal amount for several days to minimize the peeling.
7. We have some snow skiers that will apply to their face before going down the slopes and then afterwards to help with wind and sunburns on the face.

Saw it in the Detroit Free Press:

Several perfumers are creating fragrances that try to capture what Americans think of as new baby smell, that aroma of baby powder and lotion that so readily conjures up memories of happy, peaceful newborn bliss.

The scent can have elements of violet, coumarin and musk, says Delphine Jelk, of the fragrance lab and manufacturer Drom, and "when you smell it, you smell baby skin."

It wasn't an accident that Guerlain's L'Instant Magic has a hint of that powder smell. It's "built around white musk and these notes are very powdery and soft. I am especially fond of these notes because they remind me of my children's scent and soft skin when they were babies," says Sylvaine Delacourte, Guerlain creative director of fragrances.

....

"I think it's the comfort. There's something reassuring when you smell it. It's clean and soft," she says.

Sensory psychologist Pamela Dalton of the Monell Chemical Senses Center, an independent nonprofit research center, says she's not surprised the baby scent is so appealing.

"It's a lighter note so you'll smell it fairly quickly. It's part of a complex mixture but it does stand out and probably does remind you of something nurturing, either your experience as a child, parent or even taking care of a baby," she says.

Smell can be a powerful pointer to memories, and is often associated with places, people and experiences, not source.

"If you walk down the street and smell something, you don't immediately think 'hot dog.' You think 'a baseball game in the summer with my father,' " Dalton says.

"The most intense emotional memories seem restricted to things we smell only occasionally but have a pretty potent emotional tie to."

Found this article, "Seven Pointers to Lift a Bad Mood," and I liked #6:

#6 Smell the Joy
Research has shown that smell has a definite impact on our bodies and minds. When you stimulate the olfactory nerves inside your nose, you activate the limbic system of your brain, which is associated with moods and memory. This concept is instrumental to aromatherapy, a natural health tradition that makes use of the healing powers of plants with strong scents.

Aromatherapy recommends treating depression with jasmine, eucalyptus for exhilaration, and grapefruit to increase alertness and joy. Just put a dab of the essential oils from these plants on your temples, back of your neck, or acupressure points. Another option? Boil the herb in water and inhale the steam through your nose.

I had a customer tell me just this week that she likes to burn our food candles because it seems to curb her cravings. Hmmm......

It's so interesting to know that with Perfect Candles, you no longer need to buy a bunch of "candle accessories" as seen on this page. You sure don't need wax remover because our wax cleans up easily with warm soapy water. You don't need wipes to clean soot from the jar. And I personally don't use wick trimmers. From my experience, our jars self-trim, but on those rare occasions when I decide to trim wicks, I just reach in and pinch off a little bit of each wick prior to lighting. The idea of using a fancy tool for that seems silly to me.

Here is an article that will remind you that you are getting such incredible value for your money when you buy a Perfect Candle -- the article is called "Burning Money."

The market for expensive scented candles is on fire, with some versions selling for hundreds of dollars.

It's true that candles are commanding increasingly impressive prices. When looking at the other high end candles, ask if their formula burns as cleanly as a Perfect Candle? Can their fragrances fill your home as well as a Perfect Candle? Do they last as long as a Perfect Candle lasts? Remember, our company uses some of the finest fragrance experts in the business... and even though we can meet or beat the performance of any other high end candle on the market, our prices remain remarkably competitive.

As the Perfect Candle continues to outperform and overtake the competition, our company is exploding in growth. Candle lovers everywhere are finding out that, once you've burned one of ours, there just is no competition.

Before I discovered the Perfect Candle, I was routinely spending $25 for a candle that I could only enjoy by hovering directly over it. And it lasted maybe a week if I was lucky. And it left tons of soot behind. Some deal, huh?

If you're going to spend that kind of money on a candle, you deserve to have ALL of your requirements met. Now, if your goal is simply to have the cachet of burning an obscenely overpriced candle, such as the ones listed in the article, then the Perfect Candle isn't for you! But if you're looking for a clean burn that fills your home and smells as incredible the last time you light it as it did the first time you lit it, you've just

GOTTA BURNA BELLA!

Multiple uses for melts, courtesy of Maxine Morgan:

I love your melts. So I have some ideas for different ways to use them.
1. Put one in each room. Just lay it in a window sill.
2. Put them in your underwear drawer.
3. Put them in your closet.
4. Use them next to smelly shoes.
5. A pet's stinky bed.
6. Put one in a silk flower arrangement.
7. In your suitcases when they are in storage.
The possibilities are endless!

I read a recent study (if I find the link again, I'll post it) which indicates that simply enjoying the fragrance of something delicious actually satisfies the centers in the brain that crave eating that delicious item. Yes, it seems that it may be enough just to enjoy the fragrance of a cinnamon raisin bun, a whiff of lemon pound cake, a little ole sniff of banana nut bread... (be right back, I've gotta try this out!)

There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it.
~ Edith Newbold Jones Wharton

...and LIGHTEN UP!

Better to light a candle than to curse the darkness.
~ Chinese proverb
I am building a fire, and every day I train, I add more fuel. At just the right moment, I light the match.
~ Mia Hamm
I prefer the word "homemaker" because "housewife" always implies that there may be a wife someplace else.
~ Bella Abzug
